The proud heritage of the Borzoi
Originally bred in Russia, the Borzoi was developed for the coursing of hare, fox, and wolves across open terrain. They relied on keen sight rather than scent. To fulfill this purpose, a Borzoi must embody courage, power, and exceptional speed. Special emphasis is placed on sound running structure, a strong neck and jaws, keenness to game, and agility, all combined with proper physical condition.
Elegance and temperament
Our Borzoi are well-balanced hounds, possessing an unmistakable elegance that is both aristocratic and dignified. Whether in motion or at rest, they exude flowing lines and grace. Dogs should display masculinity without coarseness, while bitches are feminine and refined. Their temperament is sensitive and alert to their surroundings, characterized by a quiet dignity. Aggressiveness or shyness are considered undesirable traits.
Achievements and lovable quirks
We are incredibly proud of our Borzoi at Hounds of Freckashpeng Perm Reg'd. They have achieved considerable success in the show ring, a testament to their adherence to the breed standard and their beautiful presentation. Beyond the ring, our Borzoi absolutely love doing sprints, showcasing their natural athleticism and speed. They are also highly social animals, thriving on interaction and becoming cherished members of our family and household.
Our current Borzoi
A well-balanced hound which is graceful, aristocratic and dignified. The Borzoi should always possess unmistakable elegance with flowing lines, graceful in motion or repose. Dogs masculine without courseness, bitches feminine and refined.
